The pressed difference
Not all fresh juices are created equal.
Juice made at home or found in cafes typically use traditional centrifugal juicers and blenders. This juice is already exposed to heat and oxidation before it enters your glass, beginning to breakdown the vital elements that you want to extract. As a result, juice made on these machines has to be consumed immediately. At Presscription we cold-press our juice! We use the Commercial X1 from Goodnature – the Rolls Royce of cold-pressed juicers. Our machines are able to extract much higher concentrations of vitamins and minerals. 4000lbs of pressure extract all the nourishing elements from our produce, rupturing the cell walls and liberating an abundance of nutrients, amino acids, vitamins, minerals, enzymes and chlorophyll. The cold pressed method of extraction produces a much more nutritious juice that is able to stay fresh and vital for up to 3 days with proper storage.
What about the juice from other juice bars?
Most juice bars use a centrifugal juicer, which accelerates oxidation due to the heat and oxygen generated in the extraction process. This kills essential nutrients, enzymes, and vitamins. Presscription juices are cold-pressed daily using the highest quality fresh local produce and since there is no heat generated in our process, all of the enzymes are preserved for a fresh and ‘live’ tasting juice (you wont find a foamy head on our presscriptions!)
Furthermore, we add absolutely nothing to our nutrient rich juice – no sugar, preservatives or high pressure processing (HPP).
Can this nutritional advantage be quantified?
Yes. When compared to a leading centrifugal juicer, the machines we use are simply able to extract more. Take carrots for example:
- the centrifugal extracts 40.5ozs of juice while the X1 extracts 57.0ozs
- 501mgs of calcium on the centrifugal versus an impressive 2708mgs on the X1
- only traces of magnesium with the centrifugal and 22.8mgs with the X1
- 8.1mgs of potassium on the centrifugal and 31.9mgs on the X1
